The Lotus Esprit has stood as a iconic super car since it's introduction in 1977. Norfolk's supercar received several enhancements over the years and became the objects of desire for millions of enthusiasts with screen time in such classics as the James Bond Series, Basic Instinct and Pretty Woman. 1988 brought a major redesign of the icon by legendary automotive stylist Peter Stevens. The new design smoothed and modernized the original Giorgetto Giugiaro shape from the early seventies while retaining it's aggressive stance and overall character.

This 1988 example is finished in black with contrasting gray aero kit over tan leather hides. Rare matching black badges complete the theme. Featuring a removable solid roof panel, the car is motivated by the 910 series 2.2L 4 cylinder turbo engine capable of propelling the Lotus to speeds in excess of 150mph when new. The engine is matched to a 5 speed manual transmission. A garage kept car, this example has had only 25,XXX original miles on the odometer. The entire car has been beautifully maintained and is in exceptional condition. The title is clean with no accidents. This maybe the best example of this vintage Lotus available in North America.

Recent work completed by a Lotus of Hopewell includes replacing several parts, fixing headlight operation, refreshing fluids, belt service and brakes. Window motivators currently not working but will be fixed prior to sale.
